The Job of Your Dreams: This "YouTuber" Makes a (Very Good) Living Off Smoking on Camera

As the times change and new tools emerge, new professions appear, most of them tech-related. It has been some time now since, YouTube, for example, opened a new path that many men and women have dared to go down. Now those who have been most successful earn their livings as "YouTubers." And they do quite well at it too. They share their experiences, tips and even jokes with their viewers and, thanks to the large numbers of followers they attract, manage to make a profit.

There are all kinds of them. Some give makeup tutorials, others share their travel experiences, and others are more humorous. You can find virtually anything that comes to mind. And, of course, that includes the world of marijuana. This being the situation, some cannabis enthusiasts have decided to take the plunge, and they're doing quite well. One of the most successful cases is "Marijuana Man," who boasts a whopping 103,000 followers on his channel.

Such is the impact he has made that some companies are already interested in him talking about their products in his videos. Now that is a good deal. According to estimates by "Marijuana Man" himself, he makes up to 6,500 Canadian dollars per month (about 4,500 euros). This means that, in addition to having fun on camera, he manages to pocket about 78,000 Canadian dollars (about 54,000 euros) per year. Not bad at all.

Residing amidst the forests of British Columbia, "Marijuana Man" records most of his videos in his own room. The decor could not be more appropriate: a few Bob Marley posters, tiki masks, and endless smoking paraphernalia. Each week he shares a new episode with his followers, and the most striking thing is that he does not say much at all.

This is precisely one of the aspects that the channel owner underscores when asked about his success. He explains that, unlike other "YouTubers" who address cannabis from an educational point of view, addressing the plant's properties, for example, he prefers to do something different. His only intention is to have a good time and to enjoy the marvellous properties of his most prized asset.

Among his greatest hits are videos like "Bath Time with Marijuana Man," with more than 11,000 views, and "Marijuana Man reads some inspiring excerpts from the Bible." It remains to be seen whether over time he will have to innovate or, on the contrary, the key to his fame is to keep doing on camera precisely what so many of us like to do in the privacy of our homes.
