Young people like cannabis. That has been revealed in a survey carried out by “Student Money Saver”, a website that gives savings advice to young people in the United Kingdom. The company interviewed 1,000 people through their Facebook page in order to find out their consumption habits and 45.3% of those interviewed believed that marijuana should be legal.

At the same time, almost 25% of people interviewed stated that alcohol should be illegal and 50.9% believed that tobacco should be forbidden. Marijuana is second in terms of substances that these young people aged between 18 and 30 believed should be regulated, below alcohol and above tobacco.

"Alcohol and tobacco are already legal, and it has been proven that they cause more psychological damage than cannabis, so there is no reason not to legalise it”, outlined an anonymous user. “Legalising it would put an end to illegal trafficking. Also, the fact that tobacco and alcohol are legal is simply hypocritical. They are harmful and even worse”, stated another of the people interviewed.

The survey revealed other interesting details about the consumption habits of young people in Britain: 51% knew someone who was addicted to alcoholic drinks and 73.8% stated that they drank at least once a month. Meanwhile, 23% acknowledged they were regular smokers and 12.5% consumed cannabis.

Also, 45.4% stated that they had smoked marijuana at some point throughout their life, a figure that demonstrates the interest of young British people in green culture.
