This weekend, 250 cities all over the world celebrated the Global Cannabis March, an event where cannabis lovers from all over the world demand the legalisation of marijuana.
In Vienna, 12,000 came out on the streets last Saturday, to the rhythm of the Bavarian musician Hans Söllner, in order to ask for cannabis legalisation in Austria, according to Wien.Orf. At Dinafem we did not want to miss out the event and took along a very special friend who also likes marijuana and participated in the walk.
The event lasted an entire day in the city's main streets and the atmosphere was festive while also seeming like a protest. The main stars of the day were the young people who walked and danced peacefully while asking for the legalisation of cannabis.

Green was the dominant colour of the march, as you might expect, and marijuana leaves fluttered on the flags that many of the participants at the demonstration were carrying.
Just a few months ago, the Austrian Parliament received more than 22,000 signatures from a civic initiative to legalise cannabis, a complete success. According to Toni Straka, president of the Hemp Institute, that carries out marijuana research, who also attended the march on Saturday, cannabis ranks third in the list of political issues that most interest Austrian citizens.
We will have to wait and see if there are changes to marijuana regulation in Austria, however it is clear that citizens are ready to defend it peaceably.
