Power Kush, the complexity of balance

Contrary to what many might think, balance can also bear a complex cannabis strain. The Power Kush is, without a doubt, a clear example. Created by Dinafem, this seed arises from a long and arduous process in which a single original plant was cultivated for years until its genetics became as refined as possible. To achieve this, at first, S1 seeds were obtained, i.e., first-generation inbred, of which only those that looked more like the mother, an Indica/Skunk hybrid that has transmitted its properties to all its offspring.

The purpose was to preserve the best of this strain, which was so popular for coffee shops commercial production in Amsterdam, back in the 90s. For this, only the two best S1seeds were preserved and then crossed. This is how the Power Kush, the strain presented in the video, finally emerged, a seed that excels because of her greater stability obtained thanks to by leaving aside more conventional breeding methods.

We are therefore faced with a great Skunk + Afghani genetics that offers very predictable and commercial results. A feminized strain, easy to cultivate, with a short life cycle, capable of giving us very homogeneous yields of compact, long buds and with an abundant amount of resin. Difficulty

As we anticipated, this is a very simple strain to cultivate, suitable for both growers taking their first steps as for the expert ones who make cannabis production their way of life. However, even though it is suitable for the most inexperienced it does require attention and care. We will have to be attentive, among other things, to water her properly, to make sure that light bathes her leaves at the right time and to fertilise her with the right periodicity. Keep in mind that the Power Kush is an extremely grateful strain, which makes the most of the light she receives, thanks to the very long petioles of her leaves.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation

One of the advantages of an easy-to-grow strain is that it works well both indoors and outdoors. If indoors yields can reach up to 550 grams per square meter, outdoor crops can reach up to 1100 grams per plant.

We should also keep in mind that the Power Kush grows very well in temperate and Mediterranean climates but it is also true that the soft atmosphere of a greenhouse is also very good for her. As for indoor cultivation, if the plantation is within a room, we must take into consideration that this is a medium/large plant, so it is convenient to use growth control systems such as SOG or SCROG. This will maximise the production of our plants in a small space.

Flowering and harvesting

As we have already pointed out, one of the main qualities of the Power Kush is its short life cycle. With a flowering period of only 7 weeks this 50% Indica 50% Sativa plant is ready. In addition, the flowers are covered with multiple white and orange pistils, as was the case with Amsterdam's cannabis growers in the 90's, who were amazed at the visual appearance of their buds. Another of the most outstanding attributes of this strain is the abundant resin they produce, another extra fact to keep in mind.

 

 

Aroma and taste

The Power Kush has inherited the sweet taste of the best Skunk dynasties. Touches to citrus, sandalwood and spices intermingle in the palate for us to enjoy a true feast of flavours. And with regard to its aroma, no doubt that your sense of smell will detect that intensely fruity perfume she dedicates to all those who cultivate her. 

Effect

As for her effect, similarly to what happens with her flavour and aroma, her Skunk genetics does its part. Thus, Power Kush provides a mixed physical and mental effect, with a potency that does not leave you indifferent, as she can contain up to 18% of THC. What's more, her effect is long lasting and helps to achieve a pleasant state of relaxation. It is no wonder that the most experienced cannabis lovers got trapped in a strain like the Skunk more than 20 years ago. That strain has evolved towards more and more powerful qualities; and those strains that descend from that long dynasty, like the Power Kush, are now in charge of preserving it as much as possible.
