- International Marijuana Day took place on 2 May in several cities worldwide. In Spain, it will take place in Madrid on 9 May, one week later.
On 9 May the Global Marijuana March will arrive in Madrid. Like every year, it is aimed at bringing together cannabis lovers from around the world. To achieve that, AMEC (Madrid Association of Cannabis Studies), MadFac (Madrid Association of Cannabis Associations) and Reg Responsable (an initiative that supports the cannabis regulation), have joined forces, along with other collectives, in order to walk the streets of the Spanish capital.
The walk is scheduled to take place between Puerta del Sol in the city centre and the Plaza del Dos de Mayo, and the meet-up will begin at 7pm. The collectives organising the event encourage all marijuana lovers to participate, as well as those who want to defend their rights as consumers or marijuana sympathisers.
Joining the demonstration (that is of a festive and informative nature) will help you to make your stance clear on the current ban and to express your repulsion at the helplessness faced by Spanish consumers at present.
The 'Global Marijuana March' is the largest simultaneous marijuana protest worldwide, and has been running since 1999. The event in Madrid is scheduled for a week later than the event that took place in the rest of the worldwide capitals, on 2 May. The posters, as was to be completely expected, were just as bright and expressive as in other years.
