An Airbnb for Cannabis Lovers

More and more new applications and websites to feed new cannabis needs are appearing on a daily basis. More than a year ago, the marijuana Instagram, Massroots, emerged, and it has been a clear success in bringing together the cannabis community, especially in places where the plant has been legalised. 

Now, the service that is making real progress is TravelTHC, a solution enabling those who are enjoy the plant and travelling to combine the two passions. It is a type of Airbnb, with cannabis included, and was set up in 2014, with the name AirTHC in order to provide a service to travellers that visited Colorado.

Greg Drinkwater had the idea during a trip to Denver in 2013, while he was talking to friends about the restrictions on smoking in public in a place where regulation has attracted numerous cannabis tourists: although Colorado legalised the plant some time ago, one of the rules is that it can only be consumed on private premises and with the permission of the owner. However, some hotels also allow it, but the law stipulates a limit on the number of rooms (it can only be consumed in 25% of rooms).

However, with Drinkwater’s service, those than rent rooms or properties and are supporters of the plant, can allow anyone to consume inside their property, and without a consumption limit. It is worth considering that, given the service is a luxury, the prices of those offering the service, are usually a little higher than those that do not.

Nevertheless, Travel THC does not provide authorisation to sell the product legally, as only retailers with a license are permitted to do so. Despite this, owners are not prohibited from sharing marijuana with their guests. At the moment, there are already a lot of landlords that use this service, not only in the place where it was set up, but also in other areas such as Alaska and Washington.
